Follow Synoptic Scales in the descent from the summit to the valleys down below, and back again. ‘Gradients I: Moränen’ is a meditation on the cycles above and below the clouds on the steep slopes the high mountains. The early morning storm raging around the mountain tops, the fresh snow, the sunrise and awakening of animal life, the icy water onto the sunny meadows… the fields and forests heat up until the air is saturated with life and erupts in a thunderstorm. End and rebirth, the cycle starts anew.

‘Gradients I: Moränen’ was recorded in the Swiss, German and Austrian Alps between 2010 and 2019. The ‘Gradients’ cycle by Synoptic Scales probes into the forces driving life. All sounds are recorded in 24bits resolution with a 96kHz sample rate, ensuring highest quality. Minimal editing or post-processing delivers the sounds as they are. The entire cycle is available for free from Bandcamp and through other channels.
